Studio Roles

This is a late blog post related to the soundalike production. and pertains to my role within the studio during our recordings.

for our initial session i was in charge of the headphone mix and ensuring that the levels were alright for our artist. this was a rather simple job. i was largely assigned this as we had perhaps one too many people in the studio. nevertheless, i received no complaints regarding the mix.

My secondary job was playing bass as we could not source a bass player in time. this was a more complex role as i had to try and nail the feel of super freak. only afterwards did i realise how it was played when recorded, (with the thumb as opposed to a pick).

these were my studio roles asides from helping to set up microphones and assisting with levelling tracks when required.
